ACCIONA Windpower signs a wind turbine supply deal for a capacity of up to 782 MW PDF Print E-mail

ACCIONA Windpower, an ACCIONA group subsidiary that manufactures and supplies wind turbines, and EDP Renováveis, an EDP group company that carries out wind power development projects through its subsidiary NEO, have signed a framework agreement for the supply of wind turbines (total capacity 382.5 MW) over the next three years. This figure could rise to 782.5 MW. The wind parks to which the turbines will be assigned could be either -at the discretion of EDP Renováveis- in Europe or North America.

ACCIONA Windpower will supply 1.5 MW wind turbines and, depending on the needs of EDP Renováveis, 3 MW machines in 2009-2011. Under the conditions of the contract this figure could be extended by a further 400 MW in the same period.

(Reuters) - Allete Inc's (ALE.N: Quote, Profile, Research) Minnesota Power subsidiary agreed to buy a power line in North Dakota, phase out a contract to buy coal-based electricity, and add hundreds of megawatts of wind to reduce its carbon emissions, the company said in a release Tuesday.

The 667 wind turbines will be used in the first phase of a planned Texas wind farm. Dallas-based Mesa Power, formed by Texas billionaire T. Boone Pickens, made a deal to order 667 wind turbines from Fairfield, Conn.'s General Electric (NYSE: GE) as part of the $2 billion first phase of massive wind farm to be built in Texas.
