Mitsubishi catches the winds of the west PDF Print E-mail

Bulgaria's first wind farm, built by Kaliakra Wind Power AD (KWP), has began generating electric power to
be sold to the country's state electricity board.  Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) coordinated
construction of the farm and will participate in its operation in conjunction with the Bulgarian engineering
firm inos Ltd.

67% of wind turbine generator sales in international markets

  The wind turbine generator business unit’s sales amounted to €681
million, 22% ore than the sales made in the first three months of 2007.
The MWe sold between anuary and March 2008 grew by 25% when
compared to those of the first quarter of2007. Sixty-seven per cent of
the 836 MWe sold were sold in international markets nd the remaining
33% in Spain.
Other European countries accounted for 25%, the United
States 23% and China 14%.
Seventy-three per cent of the total number of
wind turbines sold in the first three months of 2008 were accounted for by
the Gamesa G8x2MW product platform and the remaining 27% by the
G5x 850 kW platform.
Gamesa managed to maintain its pace of annual
production at 3,600 MW in a difficult environment due to tensions in the
supply chain of components like bearings. The company also started up
a new wind turbine production facility having an annual capacity of
700 MW in China.

management group Babcock & Brown, a leading wind energy
developer and operator, today announced it has a completed
the financing of its Wessington Springs Wind Project, located
near the town of Wessington Springs, South Dakota. Construction
has begun on the wind farm, which is expected to begin
commercial operations by the end of the year.
