NEW LONDON, Conn. - For five years, Connecticut College has purchased renewable energy certificates (RECs) that provide a subsidy for production of wind energy equal to a percentage of the college´s annual electricity consumption. This year, for the first time, the college is offsetting 100 percent of its annual electricity consumption. |

Siemens and the Technical University of Aachen (RWTH) to cooperate in wind energy research |

Siemens Power Generation (PG) and the Technical University of Aachen (RWTH) are to cooperate in the further development of key components for wind turbines. Andreas Nauen, head of Siemens Wind Power Division and Professor Burkhart Rauhut, Chancellor of RWTH, signed the associated cooperation agreement in Aachen on December 7, 2007. The aim of cooperation here is further development of the drive train for wind turbines, essentially focusing on points such as efficiency, reliability and service life. A further aim of this long-term cooperation project is to assist in recruiting qualified personnel for PG's fast growing wind power sector. |

FPL Energy, LLC, a subsidiary of FPL Group (NYSE: FPL) said today that in an effort to meet the increased demand for highly skilled employees in the wind energy business in Texas and throughout the region it has formed a partnership with Texas State Technical College West Texas to educate and train students in wind turbine technology. |

Professor Ernest Smith to teach first-ever Wind Law course |

In the spring 2008 semester, the Law School will offer what it understands to be a first-in-the-nation course on Wind Law. The seminar-style course, entitled Wind Energy and Other Renewables, will be taught by internationally recognized energy law scholar Ernest Smith. |
