At the start of the European Wind Energy Conference (EWEC) in Brussels, Conergy Wind GmbH, a subsidiary of the listed company Conergy AG, has announced the sale of its first two PowerWind 56 (900 kW) wind turbines. The purchaser is the established German project developer Energiequelle, which has already installed wind turbines with a total output of more than 600 MW in Europe. Conergy Wind GmbH has also entered a strategic partnership with the project developer for an option to acquire further PowerWind 56 wind turbines in 2008 and the two years that follow.
Stefan Heczko, Commercial Managing Director of Conergy Wind GmbH, is very pleased with the deal: "The sale of the systems to a renowned company like Energiequelle demonstrates the high quality of our latest development. The sophisticated engineering concept appealed immediately to this experienced project developer. It reflects our many years of wind-energy experience." Because of the rapid availability of the turbines, Conergy Wind GmbH will benefit from an above-average global market growth of some 20 percent in 2008. "Its full converter and trendsetting cooling concept make the Conergy PowerWind 56 ideal for exporting to developing wind markets. The deliberately limited size of the system and its maximum height of 100 metres allow for maximum flexibility when it comes to usability and logistics, even in established markets such as Germany," explained Klaus Pötter, Technical Managing Director at Conergy Wind GmbH. In Bremerhaven, the company has been operating one of the most modern manufacturing plants for wind turbines since the beginning of January. There is even sufficient capacity to supply more customers in 2008. All the key components for the newly developed 1 MW-class system come from well-known European suppliers. The company is already operating three PowerWind 56 wind turbines in Bremerhaven and southern Italy, where they are supplying the promised energy output. The company estimates production of 100 wind turbines during the current year. Conergy Wind GmbH currently has 65 employees at its headquarters in Hamburg and in the production facility in Bremerhaven. |
