ACCIONA Windpower, an ACCIONA group subsidiary that manufactures and supplies wind turbines, and EDP Renováveis, an EDP group company that carries out wind power development projects through its subsidiary NEO, have signed a framework agreement for the supply of wind turbines (total capacity 382.5 MW) over the next three years. This figure could rise to 782.5 MW. The wind parks to which the turbines will be assigned could be either -at the discretion of EDP Renováveis- in Europe or North America.

ACCIONA Windpower will supply 1.5 MW wind turbines and, depending on the needs of EDP Renováveis, 3 MW machines in 2009-2011. Under the conditions of the contract this figure could be extended by a further 400 MW in the same period.

  • The contract specifies the supply of 382.5 MW for the period covering 2009-2011. It could be extended by a further 400 MW
  • The 1.5 MW wind turbines -and, optionally, 3 MW- could be installed in wind parks in North America and Europe

Framework agreement

The contract, in addition to the supply, installation, start-up and operation and maintenance of the wind turbines, gives the customer great flexibility when choosing the turbine model and class for each of its projects.
The contract constitutes a solid and wide-ranging cooperation agreement between the two companies, both of them expanding rapidly in the world wind power sector: ACCIONA Windpower -the seventh world manufacturer of wind turbines in only four years of existence- and EDP Renováveis -the fourth world operator in the wind power sector-.
